Mapping Feature Now Available

The addition of FindYourWater.com to FindTheBass.com is now complete.  FindYourWater.com is a site that was
     developed by Brian Welde, who has used his expertise of mapping to create
     a very useful tool that complements FTB
     extremely well.  This site will allow
     you to enter GPS coordinates, mark waypoints or fishing spots for future
     reference, measure distance from point A to point B, and in many cases,
     study the topographical layout of the lake in great detail.  In addition to the features currently
     available, there are many exciting possibilities that this partnership
     opens up.  Stay tuned to see what
     develops!

Some tips on using the mapping tools:

You can access the mapping tools by either
     clicking on the “Lake
      Maps” header found
     on the FTB homepage or when
     entering fishing data or searching for patterns in the database, you can
     click on the (?) that appears next to the lake or river name. This will
     bring up a short description of the body of water and a “Show Map” header.  Click on “Show
     Map” and you will be taken directly to that particular lake or
     river.  Using this method will
     eliminate you having to search for that particular map yourself.

The basic tools, which include any of the green
     buttons, are available for use without registering.  You will be able to zoom in on the map,
     measure distances, check the weather forecast, search for other lakes or
     rivers, save images of the map to a file, email the map to your buddies,
     or add layers.

Layers are overlays that you can add to your
     map.  Layers include public points
     of interest (POI), structure, fishing spots, Gulf pipelines, Gulf
     platforms, depth contours, NOAA, depth profiles, and topo maps.  Keep in mind, the site is fairly new and
     not all of these features are available on all the maps right now but the
     site is being updated continually. 
     If the feature you’re looking for is not available today, it may be
     there tomorrow! 

You can register by clicking on any of the
     yellow buttons.  You will be
     prompted to sign-up and will then be able to add waypoints, fishing spots,
     and GPS coordinates.  Signing up is
     free and will allow you to personalize the maps.

At this time, you don’t have the ability to
     delete points marked in error.  That
     is being worked on and should be corrected very soon, but for the time
     being, be careful you are marking the correct spot.

Use this tool as you are entering your fishing
     trips.  It only takes a few extra
     minutes to go to the lake map and mark your fishing spots. It’s a great
     way to create a visual reference of the seasonal patterns that you are
     uncovering. 

Unlike the data you enter into the database, the
     spots you save are yours and yours alone. 
     No one will see these unless you email them to us.  (Which will be very much appreciated and
     will gain you great favor with the members!)

     help you walk through how to use the site in case you get stuck.
